Buffet Winkel

All of our guests know our favourite restaurant, Buffet van Odette. They only work with the best suppliers and we love it there everytime because you can really feel the love that Odette and her daughter Lisa put into their beloved restaurant. It's one of those beautiful bistrot-style places where everything is right: the food, the drinks & the atmosphere.

Lucky for us, Odette and Lisa also opened a lovely little neighbourhood shop around the corner from us, where you can pick up your favourite Buffet-meals to enjoy at home. Next to that, they also offer goodies straight from their suppliers, like the most delicious wine and the freshest vegetables.

And of course, they also offer really really good coffee to take away.
Great family plus: Our cute little neighbourhood playground is right next door. So the kids can happily swing around while the grown-ups enjoy their coffee or wine on-the-go! (In the winter, they also offer the most delicious Gluehwein)

Coffee district

We met the wonderful Rosa and Adil and fell in love with them and their coffee when we had a little pop-up store for our rugs next door to their coffee bar on Hendrik Jacobzstraat in the Vondelpark neighbourhood. And lucky for us, they opened a second Coffee district coffee bar not far from us – on the other side of the museum square.

Rosa and Adil have a real eye for design – both of their coffee bars have been furnished in a beautiful, minimalistic way. And they have an eye for their customers as well. You all know that we love everyone who runs their business with love, just like we do. And this definitely applies for Adil and Rosa. You are always greeted with a smile. And their coffee is outstanding. Every cup brewed with love – and (maybe also because they have 2 beautiful daughters themselves) kids will get the most delicious babyccino as well! Happiness all around.

Just be warned – word got out by now so sometimes you have to stand in line for a little while. But we promise, it is worth it!

Nescio Café at the Generator Hotel

Just out of our neighbourhood, but still worth mentioning is the lovely Nescio cafe at the Generator Hotel. Not only because it is really good coffee, but also because they are so conveniently located in the lovely Oosterpark. The city of Amsterdam has put a lot of money towards the parks lately. So small parks like the Oosterparks have become even nicer than they were before.

The Oosterpark one of our favourite family parks as it has some nice little playgrounds (including a brand-new playground for the smallest family members, a brand-new sports-field for the bigger kids – and our favourite: the fabulous scate park that is located right behind the Generator Hotel). And let’s not forget that one of our favourite museums, the Troopenmusem is right next door as well.

There is a direct tram to Oosterpark from The Weavery, but you can also make a lovely walk out of it and pass by the Artis Zoo on your way back.

Bocca Coffee

A beautiful espresso bar with really delicious coffee from their own brand, set in the lovely Kerkstraat.

Perfect for a take-out coffee on your way to the lovely 9-streets. Next to their wonderful brews, you can also buy your Bocca coffeebeans for at home. And in times when the Covid-19 regulations allow it, you can enjoy a nice brunch here as well. They have quite some space inside!

Scandinavian Embassy

Set next to the beautiful Sarphatipark is the wonderful Scandinavian Embassy coffee bar. Living up the scandinavian perfectionism, they are committed to offer an excellent coffee experience and they definitely live up to it. They get their coffee from a few small and carefully selected coffee roasters in Denmark, Sweden and Norway. We have been enjoying their coffee for years now. Perfect to get a cup of their wonderful brew while you hang  out with friends in the small and gorgeous Sarphatipark.

If you have some more time on hand, and Covid-19 regulations allow it again, it's also really nice to sit inside. Their beautiful wooden interior offers warmth and minimalism at the same time. They also offer a delicious breakfast or lunch for you to enjoy.

And let's not forget that they make most wonderful swedish cinnamon buns!!! Loved by the whole family!

Back to black

One of our absolute favourites, not only because they make (their own!!) damn good coffee and have lovely snacks to go with it, but also because they have really been adding to the charm of our lovely neighbourhood. Set in a lovely corner house on Lijnbaansgracht/Weteringschans and inviting and cozy with its lovely vintage furniture (you all should know by now that we love furniture with history), it's become a favourite place for lot of Amsterdammers.

The clientele at Back to Black is a lovely mix of neigbourhood mums that get their coffee fix once the kids are dropped off at school, teachers during their lunch break, hipsters that need their coffee as much for the taste, as for the look ;-) , the (home-)office workers that need a little happiness during their break. And of course all kinds of local Amsterdammers that want to treat themselves to something nice when they are out and about in the weekends.
